EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress (EMDR International Association). EMDR has been found

effective by the American Psychiatric Association, The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Department of Defense and the World Health Organization. It is also considered an evidence-based treatment for anxiety and depression symptoms and is widely used for other treatment issues, including: phobias, dissociative disorders, and those with a history of abuse and neglect. EMDR can also be used to improve emotional regulation and performance enhancement.

I have been trained by the EMDR Institute and am a EMDRIA certified therapist and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. I have also received specialized training in using EMDR with children and adolescents. I am the Coordinator of the Westchester County Trauma Recovery Network (TRN) and a member of the Westchester County Regional EMDRIA group.
